J. Buckley Warden IV

J. Buckley Warden IV practices primarily in the firm’s Civil Litigation Group, with a focus on serving businesses and individuals involved in contract disputes. Mr. Warden’s cases include non-compete agreements, insurance contracts, acquisition and development and construction loan breaches, adversary proceedings in bankruptcy, defamation claims, False Claims Acts cases, and construction contracts. Having worked on federal court cases involving tens of thousands of documents, Mr. Warden has experience with complex discovery battles where multi-million dollar damage claims are on the line. Often equally important to the clients he serves are smaller disputes with less money at stake.  While such cases may not grab headlines, they are crucially important to the lives of the people and small businesses involved.  Mr. Warden enjoys solving individual problems–whether measured in thousands or millions of dollars at risk–with customized, individual solutions. In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Warden has taught Evidence and Litigation as a member of the faculty at the University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies.

Mr. Warden earned his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Richmond Law Review, a member of the Order of the Barristers, and a member of the John Marshall Inn of Court.  He also served on the Moot Court Board, the Trial Advocacy Board, and the Law School Admissions Committee.  Mr. Warden also earned the highest grade in the class in Evidence, Remedies, Advanced Trial Practice, and Medical Malpractice. Mr. Warden graduated magna cum laude from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree while double-majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. Between law school and joining DurretteCrump, Mr. Warden served as a law clerk to The Honorable G. Edward Welmaker, Resident Judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina, who presides over both a criminal and civil docket.
